Quickly approaching the end of the 2011 you start thinking about your favourite artist or track of the year and Danilo Plessow is definetly one of the first to come to mind for us.
His outstanding DJ Kicks that dropped half way through the year was widely acclaimed as one of the best compiled mixes and the L.O.V.E. single also coped alot of airtime in clubs around the world.
If his past Raw Cuts series and 2011 are anything to go by then were very excited to see what MCDE has in store for us in 2012.

2011 has been pretty big for you with the massive success of your DJ
Kicks release and numerous other projects. Has this year been more
about production than DJing? How have you managed your time?
I still played every weekend and it definatly has been a very intense year, but i m really happy with the Dj kicks which was a big step & definatly also a big honour for me to do.

Its no secret that you love collecting and using vintage and analog
gear. Do you think this is a dying trend in house music as more people
rely on software?
I dont think so, more and more people also get back to "the real deal", as you can note by the exploding prices for vintage gear. And there are some really nice modern analog synths and drum machines out there, so I dont think this will die any time soon!
How does a MCDE track start out? Is it the sample? The Drums?
Totally depends on the mood im in. But lately I really like sitting in front of my rhodes and trying out harmonies... Its a beautiful, real instrument and the keys feel gorgeous. And i got an old Emu Sp12 Turbo, so that might change my workflow as well.

"In Sydney I managed to play 5 hours with 5 cds as my records got locked in the hotel"
The sample based Raw Cuts series was a very successful episode for
you. Will you be making more heavily sampled music or will you be
using more synthesis, or a combination?
I m still figuring out which way to go, but as MCDE I dont want to sample heavily from other artists anymore, rather sample my own keys etc.
For the more sample-based stuff, i'll probably use another alter ego on my label MCDE.
What is the house music scene like at home in Stuttgart at the moment?
I live in Cologne by now, so I cant tell really. But here it is not that big, there are things happening, but its way less than for example in berlin, which i quite like. Its nice to go to a bar and hear jazz or soul instead of the omnipresent 4/4.
Your playing Melbourne NYD 2012. Will this be your first time in
Australia? What can we expect to hear?
I played Sydney and Melbourne 2 years ago I think, which was really nice.
In Sydney I managed to play 5 hours with 5 cds as my records got locked in the hotel without anybody being able to get it open, so that was quite something. This time i ll probably always carry my records with me ha!

What's your favourite drum machine in the ensemble?
Tr 909 and SP12.
Whats in the pipelines for 2012 for MCDE?
Working on an album now, hope I'll get it finished in 2012! Other than that, there will be some nice releases on my MCDE label, new artists, collabs and maybe some new MCDE alter egos just to fool around :-)
A big Thankyou to Danilo for answering these questions.
